Puerto Maldonado

Puerto Maldonado is located in the southeast of the country, is the capital of Madre Dios; it has the official title of Capital of Biodiversity in Peru in recognition of important records of flora and fauna found in the forests of the department, especially in the Manu. The region is home to native tribes for whom the advance of civilization has not yet arrived. Iquitos is the capital of Loreto, and the largest city in the Peruvian Amazon. It is located northeast of Peru, located on the left shore of the Amazon River. Iquitos is the sixth largest city in Peru. There are regular flights from the cities of Lima; the flight takes 1 hour and 30 minutes and from Cusco 30 minutes.

By land-river:
From Cusco to Paucartambo-Salvation by land, in Boca Manu-Colorado by the Madre de Dios River to Puerto Maldonado by river, the trip takes about 4 days.

In Puerto Maldonado you will find a great diversity of flora and fauna in different areas such as Tambopata National Reserve, where there are a variety of birds, the Manu Biosphere Reserve, composed of the Manu National Park. Its sunsets are famous due to the reflection of the snowy chain of Cusco. This phenomenon is called "White Lightning". On the other hand, is the Natural Reserve of Tambopata-Candamo, at the confluence of the rivers La Torre and Tambopata, with an area of 5,500 hectares of virgin forest, where the richness and variety of birds reaches 600 species, 900 species of butterflies, 115 species of dragonflies and more than 200 species of plants. In the National Shrine of the Pampas del Heath lives the maned wolf.

For travel
- Find a tour operator specialized in expeditions in the jungle

There is no bus station; however, the companies that travel the Puerto Maldonado-Iberia-Iñapari route are concentrated at the corner of Jiron Ica and Jiron Piura, and those that travel the Puerto Maldonado-Cusco route are located in the 3rd block of Avenida Tambopata.
