typical Amazonian boat.

cocktail. Afterwards you will be handed over the keys to your bungalow and

presentation and the exquisite tastes of the dishes prepared by our French
chef.
After that you will have some free time to get comfortable in your bungalow,
or take a refreshing dip in our pool.
3:30pm: It gets time to have some first contact with the jungle. On this
trek you will see a large variety of tropical trees, medicinal plants,
insects, butterflies and other animals. Upon return we will make a small
stop at a lookout. Here you can observe toucans, macaws and other species of
birds upon your return for sunset. (Duration: between 2,5 and 3 hours)
Returning to the lodge you can take a refreshing dip in the pool or have an
exotic cocktail in our terrace- bar. You could also watch the sunset in the
relaxing, tranquility of palm and mango trees at our port.
7pm: Before dinner we will go on a nightly boat trip, a little safari trying
to spot the white caiman (caiman crocodylus) that lives in the river banks.
8pm: After the delicious dinner, those who wish can have some Smalltalk in
our reclining seats or have some fun and make friends with other travelers
in the bar. Another option is to take a bath in the pool (with bar) under
the shining Amazon sky and marvel at the Cross of the South. (B,L,D)
DAY 3 MONKEY ISLAND AND LAKE SANDOVAL
At 5:30am we will go on a trek of about 20 minutes until we arrive at the
parrot clay- lick. Here a minimum of five different species feeds on special
clay, vital to their metabolism. It’s a truly marvelous, multicolored
spectacle.

Amazonia. We have dozens of varieties of exotic plants and flowering trees.
10:30am: Again we will navigate the Madre de Dios River. This time on an
expedition destined to “Monkey Island” where some species of these
interesting and entertaining animals live in freedom. Following another boat
ride of 30 min we will enter the territory of the Tambopata- Candamo
National Reserve. We will trek 5km through the dense vegetation of the
tropical rainforest. Giant trees, snakes, monkeys, birds and sometimes even
the illusive jaguar can be observed here
Our destination is heavenly Sandoval Lake. Its privileged settings are
shared by numerous species of animals: Birds (in particular Hoatzins,
Kingfisher, and Cormorants), different species of monkeys (Squirrel monkeys,
Howler monkeys, Capuchin monkeys). At the lake itself we can enjoy the
spectacle of Giant River Otters. Black Caimans and Piranhas (sometimes we
can even observe anacondas in the areas covered by reed). This is also the
habitat of the giant Arapaima, a fish of more than 2,5m, weighing in at
+200kg. Traveling by canoe, the sunset in the lake is a spectacular
unforgettable sight. On our return to the river we might be able to spot
some nocturnal animals.
8pm: The body demands rest and food after an active day in the jungle. You
will enjoy the exotic tastes of our meals, especially our desserts. If you
still have energy left you can share moments of music and conversation in
the bar whilst having a cocktail or enjoy the sounds of the rainforest
surrounding you from your hammock.
After a long day full of activity you will enjoy the comfort of you
bungalows hammocks. You can also recover with a massage by the lodges’
qualified masseurs. (B, L, D)
DAY 4 GAMITANA CREEK
8am: Breakfast and free time to have a bath in the pool or maybe buy some
exclusive Amazon handicrafts and jewelry in our shop.
10am: We will follow the course of the river for approximately 1,5 hours in
order to visit a native community. Occasionally we can see monkeys, river
turtles, caimans and various birds in the dense vegetation of the
riverbanks. We will also see some medicinal plants. (Sangre de Grado, Oje,
Capirona)
The “Project for the Rescue of Cultural Values” supports the local native
community “Palma Real”. It is the biggest with approximately 200 families of
the Ese’eja tribe.
This project, located at Gamitana creek works together with two families
that will introduce us to the cultural values of their ancestors, their
language, their customs, their garments and their dances. In an era where
globalization rapidly changes traditional societies this is a great
opportunity to have direct contact with this tribe of ancient warriors and
hunters. As well as a chance to support them economically with the purchase
of some of their handmade products
1pm: Circumnavigating the Gamatina creek we can occasionally see animals
escaping the human presence. Afterwards we will visit a chakra (local term
for farm). We will get to know a variety of tropical fruits and other local
products (Cocoa, bananas, café, cocona). Here we will also have lunch
consisting of a typical Amazon dish.
The chacarero (farmer) will also let us taste some of the fruits that will
later be taken to the city of Puerto Maldonado for consumption.
Upon return to the lodge you will surely enjoy a bath in our swimming pool;
maybe with a cocktail that might also serve as an aperitif for dinner.
8pm: Dinner is served. After dinner you can retire to our bar to have some
tropical cocktails, relax chit-chatting in our reclining seats at the
central terrace or have a bath in the pool underneath the shining Amazon
sky. (B, L, D)

visit Pisac to see the market on Sunday, but there are smaller markets on
both Tuesday and Thursday. However Pisac is a pretty village and has plenty
of small handicraft shops and is worth a visit on any day of the week as is
a good place to buy the local ceramics including a huge and varied
collection of hand-painted multi-coloured beads. Lunch in a typical
restaurant in Urubamba then we continue with Ollantaytambo which is an
attractive little town located at the western end of the Sacred Valley,
considered the older town continuously occupied of the American continent is
located at the foot of some spectacular Inca ruins which protected the
strategic entrance to the lower Urubamba Valley. The narrow streets of
Ollantaytambo, along with their channels that have not varied from the Inca
time, evoke their ancestral inheritance, and then finish visiting Chinchero.
Chinchero is a small Andean Indian village located high up on the windswept
plains of Anta at 3762m about 30km from Cusco and is believed to be the
mythical birthplace of the rainbow. Its major claim to tourism is its
colorful Sunday market which is much less tourist-orientated than the market
at Pisac. At the end, return to Cusco arriving at 6:30pm approximately at
the main plaza.
The night is free for you to eat in a restaurant of your choice; although we
always have plenty of suggestions for you should you require them. (B, L)

islands of the Uros. After a 2 hour motorboat ride, you will arrive at the
Uros island in the Titikaka lake. Fishermen and hunters inhabit the floating
islands of the Uros. The residents of the Uros are known as the “water
tribe”, because they must construct its own Islands periodically, adding new
layers of totora reeds, which grows in the lake, to create the conditions
that ensure the islands stay afloat. The dense roots that the plants develop
support the island. The roofs are waterproof and the houses are extremely
humid because of the surrounding water.
They used it as home and trade centers for the natives, who use hand-made
boats of the same material as their means of transportation. At present,
they speak Quechua and Aymara. Following this exciting tour, you will be led
to the Island of Taquile, , place where the form of typical and rustic
experience was appraised, the place is colorful and landscaping, where they
even maintain its customs, ritual, religious and folkloric traditions, in
the town of Taquile we will taste a typical lunch with fresh fish (trout).
There is also a craft fair on the plaza that sells exceptional wool goods
which are of very fine quality and somewhat expensive. Taquile Island is
famous for its craft production, particularly for its beautiful textiles.
The island is narrow at about 1 Km. wide and 6 to 7 Km. long. The visit
could be exhausting because of the altitude (13,000 ft above sea level). On
Taquile there are numerous pre-Inca and Inca ruins as well as Inca
terracing. We will return in Puno in the afternoon, overnight (B,L)

Km. from Puno. Most of the towers date from the period of Inca occupation in
the 15th century; the engineering involved in their construction is more
complex than anything the Incas built. Upon arrival Lima’s airport,
