Itinerary

Day 1: CUSCO CITY TOUR

Upon arrival to Cusco, our representative will greet you at the airport and accompany you for the transfer to your hotel. Have time at your leisure and eat a light meal at a nearby restaurant. Then, in the afternoon, depart on a guided city tour to nearby attractions such as the main plaza, Cathedral, Koricancha (Temple of the Sun), as well as surrounding archaeological sites, including the Sacsayhuaman Fortress. Entrance to the archaeological centers and museums are included. Overnight in Cusco. (No meals included.)

Day 2: LUXURY TRAIN RIDE TO MACHU PICCHU & GUIDED TOUR

* Please Note: The Belmond Hiram Bingham Train does not operate the last Sunday of each month.

Have breakfast and take a transfer to the train station. The Belmond Hiram Bingham Train departs from the Poroy Station (about 20 minutes outside Cusco) at 9 am which gives a more leisurely start to the day than the traditional 6 am departures of other train services to Machu Picchu.

Gourmet lunch and specialty cocktails are served onboard the train whilst passengers watch the spectacular scenery unfolding before them. From the agricultural plains of the Sacred Valley to the crashing waters of the Urubamba River to the soaring tropical mountains getting closer to Machu Picchu, the beautiful scenery is constantly changing along the luxury journey.

The train arrives into Aguas Calientes where private minibusses await passengers to escort them on the fifteen-minute journey up to the citadel, avoiding the queues.

Upon arrival at the Machu Picchu entrance, go straight into the citadel as tickets are pre-purchased for Hiram Bingham guests.

A guide will then escort you around the citadel in small groups, pointing out the best of the ruins and recounting the history of this Inca settlement.

After the guided tour, enjoy afternoon tea at the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge, the hotel located right at the entrance to the citadel.

The Hiram Bingham departs in the early evening. Guests are welcomed back on board with pre-dinner cocktails served in the Bar Car with live musical entertainment. Later a 4-course, à la carte dinner is served in the dining cars. The train pulls into Poroy station just outside Cusco in the evening. Upon arrival, a transfer takes you back to your hotel. Overnight at a hotel in Cusco.

WHAT'S INCLUDED ON HIRAM BINGHAM?
On-board meals with Peruvian wine, beer, soft drinks, and hot drinks (lunch on the outward journey, dinner on return), on-board entertainment, guides, bus transfers, entrance to Machu Picchu, and afternoon tea at Belmond Sanctuary Lodge, and pre-dinner cocktails.
