After 30 minutes you will come to the slopes of Cerro Blanco in Ocucaje and we will start our trekking (hike) through the desert in search of our first fossil, because that site is part of a complex reservoir strata in the Central Coast with antiques ranging from 45 million years ago to just over 2 million years, our feet will sink into a strange accumulation of layers of mostly sandy and clayey sediments, which buried bodies of various animals as many of the marine environment land.
Appreciate the beautiful scenery Bad lands, the name given by paleontologists to desert these whimsical forms submitted to intense erosion by the wind, if we are lucky we can find shark teeth, remains of turtles, crocodiles, whales and other animals.
After the walk we return to our car, out of Cerro Blanco and head north to Middle White Hill, also called “The Cangana” where a small walking tour can find up to 4 skulls Mysticeti (baleen whale). After 30 minutes of this field trip we go on our mobility Cerro Blanco South known as “Cerro La bruja” to appreciate the nearly complete fossil of a whale with her baby.
