NATIONAL MUSEUM ROYAL TOMBS OF SIPAN

Opened in 2002, its architectural design was inspired by the ancient pre-Inca pyramids of the Moche culture (I to VII century AD.). The museum focuses more than two thousand pieces of gold.
The purpose of the museum is to show the tomb of the Lord of Sipan, which was found in 1987 by Peruvian archaeologists Walter Alva Alva and Luis Chero Zurita. Among its pieces are jewelry, pottery and grave goods.
The finding of the Royal Tombs of Sipan marked an important milestone in the archeology of the continent because for the first time revealed the magnificence and majesty of the only leader of ancient Peru found until that date.
The structure has three floors. Access is via a ramp, as acceded to the ancient Moche temples. This slope leads to the third floor. The visit takes place from top to bottom reliving the experience of the discoverer of the Lord of Sipan. From the second floor, there is an exact replica of the burial chamber of the Lord of Sipan and know about your culture, technological achievements and thoughts about death, among others.
The center of the museum contains the Mochica Royal Hall where is the Lord of Sipan warrior with his clothes and chest of gold and other jewels of the same material, the burial chamber of the former leader, with eight skeletons of their companions, other officers discovered, as the priest and the Old Lord of Sipanof the same investiture of Moche governor, all with their original costumes. The center of the museum contains the Royal Mochica room where is the Mochica room Lord of Sipan warrior with his clothes and chest of gold and other jewels of the same material, the burial chamber of the former leader, with eight skeletons of their companions, other officers discovered, as the priest and the Old Lord of Sipanof the same investiture of Moche governor, all with their original costumes. In this Royal Mochica room, there are 35 dummies representing their political, ten of which have been articulated, so they are moving during the visits. This accurate reconstruction of what was all magnificence of the royal court of the Moche warrior faithfully represents what was a Mochica room entourage. You can also view the ornaments recovered from the grave. It includes a message which left the looting and the importance of protecting cultural heritage of Peru.
