The Inca trail was discovered by Hiram Bingham, between 1913 and 1915. The 2 days Inca Trail starts at km. 104, your first visit will be Cochabamba ruins, then you will start a walk of 4 hours until arrive in Wiñaywayna, its name comes from a beautiful orchid that abounds in the area and its meaning is Forever Young. Then you continue crossing a cloud forest until arrive Inti Punku or Sun Gate, in this point visitor can have a beautiful view of the citadel of Machu Picchu. Then we will go to the town of Aguas Calientes and overnight. Here visitors can enjoy of the hot springs, also can walk around the town. Next day we will go to the majestic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. Also you will find treks of more days as de Inca trail which last four to five days, this one starts at km. 82.
If your itinerary is not too tie, we recommend staying in the city of Cusco a couple of days, because you will need acclimatizing also you should drink coca tea, but it will be better if you drink it during the day, it is not recommended drinking it at night because it has similar effects as the caffeine.
