Itinerary
DAY1
Arrival in Lima. Transfer to hotel.
Upon arrival at the Lima airport, you will be greeted by our Inca Expert Travel representative. After a transfer to your confirmed Lima hotel and assistance with the check in, you’ll be provided with everything needed in preparation for your upcoming journey.
Use this arrival day to rejuvenate yourself by resting or dine in at one of the many gourmet restaurants throughout the city.
DAY2
Arrival in Puerto Maldonado. Transfer to Lodge.
Your jungle adventure begins with a flight to Puerto Maldonado. The lodge staff will greet you upon arrival, transfer you to the lodge office to safely store large luggage items, and board a motorized canoe to travel along the river to your lodge. Keep your eyes peeled for first sightings of birds, reptiles, and animals along the banks of the Madre de Dios river. Spend the afternoon with your naturalist guide doing some light exploration as you acclimate to the rainforest environment.
DAY3
Amazon Activities. Part 1
Escape into the bliss of unencumbered nature. Your excursion today will delight you with the incredible biodiversity of Peru’s rainforest. Visit an oxbow lake to observe hoatzin birds, squirrel monkeys, giant otters, and black caiman. Learn about medicinal plants and how Amazonian communities use them, and taste flavors only found here.
As night descends, listen to the sounds of the rainforest coming to life while you join your guide to explore the forest and spot critters that only come out after dark.
DAY4
Amazon Activities. Part 2
Start your day with a sunrise over the Amazon and breakfast in your lodge before you visit a clay lick where parrots and macaws gather in colorful flocks. After you’ve taken enough pictures, you’ll explore a trail that winds through giant ceiba trees reaching over 500 feet (150 meters) tall. Then, travel by boat to an organic farm where locals cultivate a range of fruits and vegetables, some of which will be strange and others familiar.
DAY5
Amazon Activities. Part 3
Hike through forests of immense trees including figs and ceibas where diverse monkey species live. Then spend time relaxing at the lodge, perhaps scheduling a massage at the wellness spa.
DAY6
Departure from jungle lodge.
After a final breakfast at the lodge, board a boat for the journey back to Puerto Maldonado and transfer to the airport for your trip back home.
