What a wonderful trip we had to Peru. We really enjoyed the sights we saw on our tours of Cusco, Machu Picchu, and Lake Titicaca areas. I really wanted to let you know how pleased we were with all our tour guides. Most of them spoke very good English. Every pick-up was on time (or even early). It was so comforting to get off the plane in a foreign country and see my name on a sign.

Machu Picchu exceeded our expectations. It is so much larger then we thought from pictures or TV shows we have seen about it. The Pueblo Hotel was a wonderful place to stay.

The guide we had in Ollantaytambo (Guillermo) was especially good. He was very helpful with Frances (she is 82 years old) on climbing the steps there, and understood that she needed to go slowly down the hill.

We also liked the Uros floating islands on Lake Titicaca, and learned a lot about how they got there. We made a couple purchases from a native lady named Delia. (Unfortunately, when we got home my dog chewed up the reed boat we bought from her. I wish I knew how I could get that replaced.)

The tour of Taquile Island was almost more than Frances could handle. At 12,000+ feet in elevation and some of the steps being almost as long as her legs are, it really wore her out, but she was glad she did it. The next day she missed the tour of the Sun Island, but the beautiful catamaran was a great place for her to give her legs some needed rest.

was perfectly organised from the moment we arrived in Lima to the moment we
left.  Our connection to Cuzco was cancelled but the airline made sure all

My only complaint is the Hatuchay Tower had no heating in the rooms but they

Two comments.

On the Nazca tour, although the guide was very pleasant and personable, he apparently procrastinated in actually setting up the flight and although we arrived in Nazca around noon we did not go to the airport until about 3:00 and then got on the last flight of the day. As a result we returned to Lima near midnight.

Arequipa is wonderful and should be put high on your list of recommendations. It is also a great place to acclimatize to the altitude. The hotel was wonderful and the tourguides excellent. The colonial city contrasts well with the Machu Pichu travel.

Thank you for taking such a great care of us! The whole trip was so well organized, considering our customized travel to three different destinations in Peru within 10 days! There was always a guide waiting for us, respectively, in Huaraz, Cusco, Machu Picchu and Ica, and the pick ups and
transfers in Lima by Paula and Gustavo were on time and very friendly.

In Huaraz, Taina Guerrero was a wonderful guide not only on trails, supportive and motivating, but also pointing and explaining any interesting spots, suggesting good places to eat and helping us in any way as a friend.
Marielena Gallegos took good care of us when the strike in Machu Picchu canceled the scheduled Inka Trail. She arranged all necessary changes (hotel stay, train tickets, guide) so we were at least able to visit Machu Picchu, and even replaced the scheduled lunch in Machu Picchu for a good dinner with a show in Cusco. In Ica, we spent with Carlos who guided us with care and answered all questions about the Nazca lines with great
knowledge and enthusiasm.

It was a very good trip, great experience seeing the Peru's natural beauty and cultural heritage. Thank you again.

We could not have been more pleased with the service and the room in Cusco. It provided a nice change to what had been a not so good trip up to that point. I was so happy that everything went smoothly while we were in the highlands and look forward to visiting again someday.
The amount of hot water in the shower and the "bathing in a cave" experience was unique. The best showers of the trip were because of your bathrooms.
The directions and recommendations given by your staff were first rate. We really appreciated the instructions on how to adjust to the altitude with cocoa tea and a nap, chicken soup for lunch and then we would be ready for the afternoon. It was perfect advice. We never felt any ill effects from the altitude at any time while in the highlands.

We had a fantastic time! Everything overall was exceptionally well handled. Peru Gateway Travel did an excellent job accommodating our needs and handling at the last minute our daughter's reservation to couple up to our existing plan. We only had one snag where the weather bad and we missed our first two days at Lima due to missing the airline flight from Houston, which we made up at the end of the trip. The Lima Airport is under construction so when we arrived from Houston it took 2 hours to get our luggage and pass through customs. I had to call the emergency phone numbers to have someone get in contact with Gustavo and Paula Araya since they were not at the gate once we got through the airport lines. My husband and I - and Tom - just got back from the Peru trip planned by your office. We had one of the best vacations ever! We were met at every stop, by very courteous people and very good drivers. Our tour guides were very pleasant and knowledgeable - especially Sylvia (the Sacred Valley), Ursula (Lima), Pasquale (Machu Picchu) and Edwardo (Lake Titicaca.)
The hotels were excellent! The Los Andes de America in Cusco was the BEST - with heated tile floors in the bathroom. Such luxury!
Peru is a wonderful, generous, beautiful country. The Inca ruins in the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu are peaceful, magnificent and calming. The Peruvian people are very friendly and generous.
The 10 hour train ride from Cusco to Puno was an unexpected treasure! We arrived at the train station expecting the same kind of train as the Machu Picchu run, but got the "Orient Express!" We traveled in comfort and class! The 10 hours went by in a flash.
I could go on and on...but what it comes down to is: Your tour company did and excellent job and we thank you for all the plans and support. We would recommend your tour company to anyone!

We have been back from Peru for a week and are sorting our pictures and sharing the memories of our splendid trip. We want to thank you for arranging an itinerary that was just right for us. It was reasonably priced, yet we saw all the major sights, and we had the special Machu Picchu experience we wanted. Your staff was friendly, dependable and helpful. The Don Carlos was comfortable, and the service was excellent. We ended up eating most of our meals there in the dining room. (I recommended to them that they install a recirculating fountain in their atrium to make it more attractive.) They were wonderful about storing our bags, helping us send emails, exchanging money and recommending places to eat and shop. Our reception in Cusco could not have been easier or more pleasant, as Maria Elena was first in line as we came out of the airport, and we were taken quickly to a comfortable lounge in the Don Carlos, where we could relax and receive instructions on registering and joining the various tours. We loved getting the hot cup of mate de coca delivered immediately to our rooms.
The tour to Pisac, Urubamba, Ollantaytambo and Chinchero was very enjoyable.
The lunche on at the Alhambra Restaurant was totally unexpected for the beauty of the setting and the elegance and good taste of the buffet, complete with the best music we heard on the trip. Tom lost his big Trujillo straw hat to the wind, but it caught on a rock in the Patacancha (I think) River at Ollantaytambo, and a young boy scrambled down and retrieved it, to cheers of the onlookers (and a $10 tip from a grateful Tom, who loves this new hat; it is perfect for sunny, hot Texas). It was nice that Theo stopped the bus to look at stars up in the mountains. Unfortunately, we didn't know much about the southern constellations beyond Alpha Centauri and the Southern Cross. We enjoyed the city tour but would have liked less time in the cathedral and more time at Ouoricancha, Sacsayhuaman, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay. All three of our guides, Theo, Janette, and Ruben, tried hard to make sure all people joined the group, and that made us a bit late sometimes, but it wasn't bad. We wish their English had been better, as it was sometimes hard to understand them, especially when they turned away from us to another part of the group. Ruben even saved a woman from falling on her face on the rocks when she fainted in the Machu Picchu ruins. The trip to Machu Picchu went off without a hitch. We had excellent seats in the first coach of the train and so were able to get some great pictures along this extraordinarily beautiful route. We followed the instructions given to us about baggage and bus, and soon we were in our very nice room at the Sanctuary Lodge. As you know, this hotel is superb, and we are so glad that you were able to get rooms for us there on short notice, because the quiet evening and morning there at Machu Picchu were unforgettable. Our train trip back and the transfer to the airport went smoothly, and Judy even made some earrings for me from two pendants at the VERY last minute! (We had gone to see the carved pulpit in Iglesia San Blas, and we met Judy on Calle Loreto walking back to the Don Carlos. She converted the pendants and brought them to the hotel in less than 10 minutes.) So, thank you very much for this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
We would actually like to come back to Peru, and we will certainly call you again if we do.

We had a wonderful trip to Peru (Peru Highlights with one night in Aguas Calientes). The people were friendly, the scenery was outstanding, the guides were enthusiastic and very well-informed, the hotels were comfortable, and the tours were well-organized and educational.
We were very impressed with the logistics of the entire trip. Making arrangements for the tour via email was very easy due to the experienced office staff at Orquidea Tours. (I was especially pleased with how easy it was to reschedule the trip when it became necessary for us to postpone the trip due to an illness in the family). And once we arrived in Peru, contact persons were always there to meet us for our transfers and all of the staff at each location was always ready to help us.
Thank you and Gateway Travel for helping us to arrange this wonderful vacation. We only wish we could have spent more than 12 days in Peru.
There is so much to see.

I write you this letter in English so that you can share our comments with your future English-speaking customers. Todd and I have just returned from our trip to Peru and we cannot thank you enough for creating such an excellent and well-organized itinerary for us!
Overall, the one-week package you arranged for us was absolutely perfect.You could not have done a better job!
Everybody with whom we dealt from your travel agency during our time in Peru was kind, professional, punctual, honest and very well-informed. We felt very well taken care of throughout the trip. When we started planning our Peru trip, Todd and I could find no travel agency that offered a package that would enable us to hike the Inca trail for 2 days, explore Machu Picchu, spend a day in Cusco, fly in Juliaca and take a boat around the islands of Titicaca all in the course of one week (and for an affordable price). You were able to create our "ideal" customized itinerary for us within our budget, and for this we are very grateful. We will highly recommend your travel agency to our friends in the United States.
