Arrival at the international airport of Campo Grande, where you will be welcomed by an english speaking representive of Open Door. Followed by the transfer 4x4 to Hotel Fazenda Baia das Pedras situated in the Nhecolandia region. The Nhecolandia Pantanal is one of the largest sub regions of the Pantanal with an area of 26,876 sq km, which encompasses 19,45 % of the total Pantanal area. This region is characterized by a savannah landscape with a great number of bays, creeks and the main rivers Rio Negro and Rio Taboco.
Total distance driven today is 303 km, of which 130 km on a dirt road. Underway there will be several stops to stretch our legs and to take some pictures. In the end of the afternoon arrival at Hotel Fazenda Baia das Pedras, followed by the check-in. During your stay at the hotel fazenda the following activities will be scheduled; horse back riding, nature walks, canoe rides, caiman spotting at night and photo safari in 4x4 jeep. The Fazenda was built in 1940, who established working with the cattle. In 2003 the house was reformed, without losing the original style. The Fazenda is located on the shores of Vazante do Castelo, in the Pantanal of Nhecolândia. The good hospitality and the pantaneira culinary are still a tradition at the Fazenda where the visitors can also deal with the cattle and get to know a little more about the culture of the Pantaneiro men. These horses are trained for inexperienced riders, making it easy for everyone to observe different environments in the Pantanal, from flooded fields to open vegetation and even forests with large trees. After check-in dinner will be served, rest of the evening at leisure and overnight at Pousada Baia das Pedras. (D)

Day 2 NHECOLÀNDIA REGION
The trips mentioned above are scheduled at the pousada. The trips will be carefully selected, depending the climate and time of the year and will be guided by local guides that know all about the flora and fauna that make this place unique. To avoid the intense heath during the day, the tours are taking place early in the morning and mid-afternoon, at these times of the day, the possibilities of seeing the movement of the animals are a lot bigger. During your stay all excursions and meals are included.Overnight at Pousada Baia das Pedras (B,L,D).

Day 3 NHECOLÀNDIA REGION (45 km)
After an early breakfast we will head for our next pousada, Fazenda Rio Negro. Arrival around lunch time. This fazenda is one of the most traditional of the region. Here a series of different activities are combined with the typical ranch tasks, together with the pleasure of relaxing while listening to the sounds of nature. The fazenda lies in the middle of nature paradise, where water and earth become variegated tiles holding the secrets of natures endless cycles. Come dive in Rio Negros dark and mysterious waters. Watch the cheerful flight of hyacinth, blue-and-yellow and red-and-green macaws. Feel the force of the howler monkeys roar and share our passion for nature as the essence of life. During your stay the following excursions will be scheduled at the fazenda; Horseback riding, hiking, river excursions by boat and canoe, “pata-choca” ride (a military vehicle adapted to local conditions), are some of them. After lunch you will enjoy one of the above activities. Overnight at Fazenda Rio Negro.(B,L,D)

Day 4 NHECOLÀNDIA REGION
After breakfast we will have a boat ride on the Rio Negro. Rio Negro is one of the Pantanal gems. White sand beaches, crystal clear drains of water, aquatic mammals as capybaras and otters, caimans, birds and with some luck even the jaguar can be sighted. Slow and calm, the river has an amazing abundance of fish species. Fishing (catch & release), photography, swimming or just sunbathing on its natural beaches are some of the available options. Return to the pousada for lunch. After lunch a horse ride, The best way to get to know the region. With typical saddles, Pantaneiro horses are very well adapted to the regional environment and are a good companion to enjoy the quiet journeys. Horse rides are carry out on trails passing by Salinas (brackish water lakes), Baias (fresh water lakes) and grasslands. Deers, tapirs, foxes, monkeys, armadillos, ant-eaters, rheas, and great variety of birds are some of the attractions. At the end of the afternoon return to the pousada where a delicious dinner is served. After dinner whe head out into the dark to search for Caymans and other nocturnal animals. Overnight at Fazenda Rio Negro. (B,L,D)

Day 5 NHECOLÀNDIA REGION – ABOBRAL REGION (155 km)
After an early breakfast we will head for our next pousada, Fazenda Xaraés. This will be a long and adventurous ride on bumby dirt roads, but we will take the time to enjoy this unforgettable ride straight to the Pantanal. Leaving the Pousada in direction of Curva do Leque, turning left and following the Estrada Park for about 30 km entering the Pantanal region of Abobral. The renovated Pousada Xaraés is located in one of the most beautifull geographical regions of the Pantanal- the Abobral region, at the margins of the Abobral river in a private area of 4200 hectares of pristine nature. After dinner a night tour to search for caymans and other nocturnal animals. Overnight at Pousada Xaraés. (B,L,D)

Day 6 ABOBRAL REGION
After an early breakfast a nature hike, with underway explanation about the fauna and flora of this region. After lunch a boat ride on the Abobral river. During this trip there is a big chance to see capybaras and monkeys on the riverbanks. Even with a bit of luck a jaguar or anaconda. Amongst the birds that commonly inhabit the area are: commorants, anhingas, skimmers, herons and egrets. a horseback ride to disover the beauties of this incredible region. This is one of the best ways to explore the Pantanal, allowing for visits to areas which are inaccessible by other means, like local flooded areas, where the water is too deep for motorized vehicles or too shallow for other boats. The horses in the Pantanal, which are raised in the region, are stout, strong and have water-resistant skin, and are adapted to crossing long distances of flooded fields. Afternoon and evening at leisure. Overnight at Pousada Xaraés. (B,L,D)

Machu Picchu and my entire visit to Peru were wonderful. A dream come true.
I could not have been happier with everyone I met through your arrangements.
The tours were very informative and showed me more than I knew existed in this beautiful place.
All of the accommodations were very comfortable.
The luncheon buffet at the Alhambra was top rate. And the Ferré Hotel in Lima was also a very good choice.Your personal assistance throughout was exceptional!
Thank you for everything!

I was one of the “Joel Williams” party of four who was recently on a Peru Gateway Travel tour of northern and southern Peru. I had to write so you would know how satisfied we were with the hotel accommodations, the tour guides, the restaurants they choose for our lunches and just everything about the trip.

The hotels we stayed in were well located, clean and convenient in every way. We have absolutely no complaints!

Our tour covered Peru from the north to the south. It had four internal flights, so there were many connections, pick ups and deliveries involved. Peru Gateway Travel made sure we were always delivered on time to the airports and promptly met and picked up when we landed. We never had a moments worry.
Since we had many different day tours, we had several different guides. All were professional and spoke our language well. All were very knowledgeable and eager to impart that knowledge to us. They chose great places for our lunches and the cuisine was unforgettable. We have traveled to many countries but found the food in Peru to be absolutely wonderful.
I also wanted to mention the drivers who picked us up at all times of the day and night, drove us to our next destination and the delivered us safely to our hotels. We never had a driver who was less than prompt, courteous and most importantly, a skilled and careful driver.
The sites we saw were the places we chose to see. And they did not disappoint us. From the desert to the Andes to the Jungle, we enjoyed it all.
Please feel free to use this email on your website or as a testimonial. All four of our group would recommend Peru Gateway Travel to anyone planning a trip to Peru. We were well taken care of, enjoyed delicious food, saw awesome sights and had a wonderful time.
Sincerely.

I am now back home but still not believed that the holiday is over. I just
write you to tell you that I had a wonderful time in Peru and to thanks for
your support. The circuit was very well designed and I had the opportunity
to visit all the important sites I envisaged and also the Sacred Valley and
the Altiplano.
I was really impressed by the organization and your people, always in time
for pick up and interested to offer the necessary information.
Finally I showed to my friends that Peru is not so far and a visit there
could be a wonderful experience. For me was a dream come true.
Many thanks to you and to your team.

My 2 adult children and I recently returned from our hike to Machu Picchu and I wanted to thank you for all your assistance. Our trip was great. We very much enjoyed visiting your beautiful country. I especially want to praise our guide, cook and porters. They did a terrific job. The food was marvelous and after a long hike it was definitely something to look forward to. The porters were very kind and when I needed some assistance at the end of the 3rd day one of the porters helped me a lot. Our guide was great. He was very knowledgeable and fun to hike with and he seemed to really love his job. Again, thanks so much for everything
