MUSEUMS OF LIMA

 

National Museum of Archaeology, Anthropology and History of Peru, is the oldest in our country; the museum has an impressive display of pre-Columbian textiles and a variety of cultural heritage. Located in the district of Pueblo Libre.

National Museum of Peruvian Culture and the Archaeological Museum Rafael Larco Herrera, located in the district of Pueblo Libre. Founded in 1926, is located in a colonial mansion and has a collection of gold and silver of ancient Peru, the famous collection of erotic art. The artworks of Larco Museum have been exhibited in the most prestigious museums in the world and are considered icons of pre-Columbian art worldwide.

Gold Museum of Peru located in Larcomar, Miraflores, which has a collection of pre-Columbian gold objects.




Lima Art Museum offers a journey from pre-Columbian art to the present day, covering about 3,000 years of art in Peru. It aims to promote culture and arts in Peru.

The National Museum is one of the most important museums of the history of Peru in Lima. It has thousands of original pieces from different eras in the history of Peru, as collections of ceramics, metals and textiles from the Paracas, Moche, Wari, Lima and historical pieces of art from the colonial and republican, as collections of colonial, popular and contemporary art.

Pedro De Osma Museum, located in Barranco. The items on display in the museum come from the personal collection formed by Don Pedro de Osma Gildemeister between 1936 to 1967. It has a variety of colonial and republican furniture, paintings, textiles, prints and books.

Inquisition and Congress Museum, It was created on July 26, 1968. Is one of the major museums in the country and its aims is to research, conservation, exhibition and to spread the history of the Congress of Peru. The property is part of the country's cultural heritage. The building has some original areas, such as the "secret door", which through it the accusers used to declared to keep their anonymous identity. Also you can see the cells of detainees awaiting his trial and and artifacts used to extract confessions.

Huaca Pucllana, Located in Miraflores, is a pyramid of 25 meters belonging to the Lima culture. It found many dismembered bodies of women, since the inhabitants of the Lima culture believed that the best sacrifice was to a woman. on October 2010 was found a new archaeological construction which has a camera, mummies and tombs in the area since 850 A.D.
