Day 1 (SATURDAY)
Meeting and assistance upon arrival in Quito and transfer to the
Hotel for overnight.
Day 2 – (SUNDAY)
Departure from Quito or Guayaquil to Baltra (a flight of about two
and a half hours). Passengers are picked up at the airport by our
guides and taken to the Itabaca Canal, then cross to the island of
Santa Cruz and travel to Puerto Ayora.
Santa Cruz (Highlands)
One option is to travel through the highlands of Santa Cruz.
Passengers will observe the twin pit craters and visit Cerro Chato.
They’ll be able to observe the famous giant tortoises.
Additionally, travelers can walk inside the dormant lava tubes.
Day 3 – (MONDAY)
Española (Suarez Point)
Dry landing. Visitors will learn about the lava terrain and cross
the inactive lava fields. Aside from its sea lion colonies, this is
one of the most important sites for bird watching.
Many species, like the hooded mockingbird and red-billed tropic
bird, can be spotted and observed closely. Past the nesting grounds
there’s the world’s largest colony of waved albatrosses.
From May to December their mating rituals are a highlight of the
visit. Afterwards there’s the famous blowhole, where water shoots 23
m (75 ft) up into the air.
Española (Gardner Bay)
Wet landing on a white coral beach amidst a large colony of sea
lions. This site has no trails, so hiking is not possible.
It’s an open area where you can spot Galapagos hawks, American
oyster catchers, Galapagos doves, hooded mockingbirds, three species
of Darwin finches, yellow warblers, lava lizards, and marine
iguanas.
It’s great for swimming and snorkeling, and you can see many
Galapagos marine species like king angelfish, creole fish, damsel
fish, parrot fish, manta rays, white-tipped reef sharks.
Day 4 – (TUESDAY)
Floreana (Cormorant Point)
Wet landing on a greenish-colored beach. Passengers will hike from
black mangrove beds to a large brackish pond, which holds one of the
largest flamingo populations in the Galapagos.
This island is best known for its endemic plant life like the
Galapagos milkwort, passion flower, and button mangrove.
Novice snorkelers can practice on the main beach with playful sea
lions; experienced snorkelers can roam around Devil’s Crown.
Champions
After Cormorant Point, there’ll be a one-hour tour in a dinghy along
the coast to observe: blue footed boobies, sea lions, marine
iguanas, and swallow-tailed gulls.
Deep-water snorkeling, this unforgettable activity lasts about an
hour and it will be like swimming in an aquarium with colorful fish,
tame sharks, and rays.
Floreana (Post Office)
Located on the northern side of Floreana Island, the bay was also
called Post Office because, in 1793, Captain James Colnett installed
an empty barrel to serve as an informal mailbox for sailors who
passed by the Galapagos, taking with them the letters to their
destinations.
Today, our visitors continue the tradition by placing unstamped
postcards inside the barrel which reach their destinations free of
charge. It can take weeks or months, or sometimes the cards never
arrive at all!
A short walk away from the famous barrel, there’s a tunnel formed by
lava flows. Down a path you can observe the mocking bird of
Galapagos, some species of Darwin’s finches, yellow warbler and lava
lizards.
After a short trip in the panga, you’ll make a dry landing at
Lookout Point where you can enjoy a great view among marine birds.
Day 5 – (WEDNESDAY)
North Seymour
Dry landing. Guests will see swallow-tailed gulls and sea lions.
This site is a major nesting colony of blue footed boobies and has
the largest colony of the magnificent frigate bird. Travelers will
also spot both iguana species, the marine iguanas and land iguanas,
and then hike around the nesting sites.
Disembark at the docks (Baltra); passengers will take a bus to the
airport for their flight back to the mainland via Guayaquil to
Quito.
(AIRFARE INCLUDED).
Meeting and assistance upon arrival in Quito and transfer to the
Hotel for overnight.
Day 6 - (THURSDAY)
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight home , or
connection flight to Lima to take an exiting extension to Peru,
Cusco and Machu Picchu

Hello all the folks at Peru Gateway Travel,
We had a fantastic time in Peru. We thank you all for making
our trip a success.
The only concern is that the accommodation in Cusco was below
average and we would not recommend the Emparada Plaza (?) to
anyone. Even though the staff was good, the room/bathroom,
breakfast was very bad.
Once again, thanks a lot for making our trip to your country a
memorable one. All the guides, especially Guillarmo in Lima
and Erica in Cusco, were excellent.

We arrived home at 4 o'clock in the
morning, very tired (we had a long lay-over in Amsterdam) but very
very happy. I am so pleased to tell you that our Peru vacation that
you planned for us was excellent! Everything was just as the
itinerary said it would be. We were very pleased with the hotels,
and the transfer people and guides were always there and everybody
was so nice and knowledgeable. We learned a lot about your very
exciting country and its history, particularly about the Quechua
culture. We will always remember the Inti Raymi festival in Cusco. I
am so glad we were able to see that. Of course Machu Picchu was also
a great highlight. And, Michael and I also very much liked Arequipa.
We didn't know much about that city, but we had a very great time
there on our free day and visited the cathedral, spent a lot of time
going through the Santa Catalina monastario and, of course, went to
the museum to see "Juanita". Beautiful architecture there too.
Really, every day was wonderful, and we would like to thank you so
much for all your efforts. Also please extend our thanks to Maria
Carmen who was so helpful on the phone and to Julia, who came to the
hotel our first night to explain many things to us and give us all
our tickets and vouchers. And perhaps you also had something to do
with our last night in Lima at the Libertador. We got a suite -- a
very big beautiful room! Thank you so much.
We wish you and your family all the best, and for sure we will be
recommending Peru Gateway Travel to our friends.
