EXCURSIONS AT BARRA MANSA
Horse back riding
The best way to explore the region. The typical saddles (arreios) are
extremely comfortable, and the horses are really good journey companions.
Vazantes fields, lagoons (baías), salt water lakes (salinas), matas,
cordilheiras and cerrados are some of the tour sceneries, lovely and
unforgettable horse ridings getting in touch with plants and animals
from the Pantanal. The horses are sweet and obedient, providing pleasant
ridings and easy way for those who want to photograph Pantanal landscape
and wildlife. Ridings can be done with no limit age. On the horse riding
you may find an incredible animal variety, like quatis, capybaras, dears,
anteaters, wild pigs, peccaries, tapirs, over the huge bird diversity,
that is present at all kinds of tours. Barra Mansa Lodge has specialized
riding programs, with several trails for the whole day, typical
pantaneiro lunch in the middle of awesome nature. The experience of
Pantanal life and culture on ridings, helping on horse and cattle work,
will give you a fantastic and pleasant time and wonderful memories for
future.
Boat ride
Negro river, one of the Pantanal jewels. Naturally protected, the river
is located between two huge swamps, and the navigation is only
accessible to the region farms.
Known by the most beautiful pantaneiro river, it has no cities or
villages on the riverbanks, guaranteeing privacy and contact with all
the Pantanal wonderful nature.
The dry and wet season in Pantanal offers different experiences on boat
tours at Barra Mansa. When the waters go up (wet season - december to
june), Negro river throws water on vazantes fields, lagoons (baías) and
open land areas, providing impressive and beautiful tours amid aquatic
plants, hundreds of fish, caimans, otters and giant otters, over an
immense amount of birds. At the dry season (july to november), when the
waters come back to the river, come out riverbanks and white sandy
beaches, perfect for pleasant swims in the pure Negro waters. There you
find birds like storks, egrets, herons, kingfishers, curassows, skimmers,
hawks and plenty other families, all of them with massive diversity of
species. You may find also animals like capybaras, peccaries, tapirs and,
with luck, a magnificent jaguar. Boat tours are mainly done with
electric motor, more silent and appropriate for wildlife appreciation.
The fuel engine is useful for fishing activities and tours up the river.
Calm and slow, the river fits as a refuge for the enormous fauna that
was benefit by the remoteness of the region. Along the beaches and
riverbanks from Negro river, you will find the perfect place to rest and
feel pantanal exuberant and incredible nature.
Canoeing
Canoes tours are the best option for those who want direct and intense
contact with the world of water and nature from Pantanal. After the wet
season, vazantes crystal waters invites for delicious swims and short
divings, where you can see an enormous fish and aquatic plant diversity,
over caimans and sting rays swimming slowly under the canoes. Canoeing
down the river is calm, quiet and peaceful, allowing the visitor to get
really close to birds and animals, hearing the sounds of nature. Best
are the chances to be surprised by the wildlife near the river. These
chances get higher when the canoeing tours happen at the sunrise.
Canoeing up the river offers more adventure and excitement, and fits to
compensate the great quantity of the traditional pantaneira gastronomy,
which is delicious. The canoes are up to 03 persons, light and easy to
paddle. Do not need advanced experience, can be done with no age limit.
Hiking
The hiking trails are done on the outskirts of the farm, surrounded by
typical pantanal vegetation, like cordilheiras, capões, vazantes and
cerrados, allowing you to know a variety even bigger of animals and
plants from pantanal. The birdwatching is the highest point on hikings,
where you may find dozens of different species per day. Beyond that,
animals like capybaras, coatis, dears, anteater, peccaries and wild pigs
are frequently seen. The silent approach and guides knowledge provides
nice and beautiful tours any time of the day. It is possible to do
trails with different levels, in agreement with guest will. No age limit
for these activities.
Photographic Safari
At Barra Mansa Lodge, the photograph safari can be done in a boat, car,
on foot or even by horse. All the activities provide unique wildlife
moments at pantanal.
From sunrise to sunset, the pantanal brings beautiful landscapes, rich
in colors, shapes, light and motion. Visiting Barra Mansa Lodge you may
see an absolutely well preserved pantanal. The landscape has not changed
since the beginning of human occupation 200 years ago. Barra Mansa Lodge
is specialized in guiding services for professional photographers and
advanced amateurs, suggesting the best tours according to the day period
and visitor nature interest. Of course that the photographer needs to
have luck to surprise a jaguar or a tapir laid down in the riverbanks,
but also these animals must be in the outskirts to make you feel the
emotion of an eminent close encounter with them, which can be a unique
experience in your life. The footprints on the sandy beaches and
riverbanks testified their presence. Prepare your equipment and bring
lots of films, pantanal richest nature is at Barra Mansa Lodge.

Machu Picchu and my entire visit to Peru were
wonderful. A dream come true.
I could not have been happier with everyone I met through your
arrangements.
The tours were very informative and showed me more than I knew
existed in this beautiful place.
All of the accommodations were very comfortable.
The luncheon buffet at the Alhambra was top rate. And the Ferré
Hotel in Lima was also a very good choice.Your personal assistance
throughout was exceptional!
Thank you for everything!

I was one of
the “Joel Williams” party of four who was recently on a Peru Gateway
Travel tour of northern and southern Peru. I had to write so you
would know how satisfied we were with the hotel accommodations, the
tour guides, the restaurants they choose for our lunches and just
everything about the trip.
The hotels we stayed in were well located, clean and convenient in
every way. We have absolutely no complaints!
Our tour covered Peru from the north to the south. It had four
internal flights, so there were many connections, pick ups and
deliveries involved. Peru Gateway Travel made sure we were always
delivered on time to the airports and promptly met and picked up
when we landed. We never had a moments worry.
Since we had many different day tours, we had several different
guides. All were professional and spoke our language well. All were
very knowledgeable and eager to impart that knowledge to us. They
chose great places for our lunches and the cuisine was
unforgettable. We have traveled to many countries but found the food
in Peru to be absolutely wonderful.
I also wanted to mention the drivers who picked us up at all times
of the day and night, drove us to our next destination and the
delivered us safely to our hotels. We never had a driver who was
less than prompt, courteous and most importantly, a skilled and
careful driver.
The sites we saw were the places we chose to see. And they did not
disappoint us. From the desert to the Andes to the Jungle, we
enjoyed it all.
Please feel free to use this email on your website or as a
testimonial. All four of our group would recommend Peru Gateway
Travel to anyone planning a trip to Peru. We were well taken care
of, enjoyed delicious food, saw awesome sights and had a wonderful
time.
Sincerely.

I am now back
home but still not believed that the holiday is over. I just
write you to tell you that I had a wonderful time in Peru and to
thanks for
your support. The circuit was very well designed and I had the
opportunity
to visit all the important sites I envisaged and also the Sacred
Valley and
the Altiplano.
I was really impressed by the organization and your people, always
in time
for pick up and interested to offer the necessary information.
Finally I showed to my friends that Peru is not so far and a visit
there
could be a wonderful experience. For me was a dream come true.
Many thanks to you and to your team.

My 2 adult children and I recently returned from our
hike to Machu Picchu and I wanted to thank you for all your
assistance. Our trip was great. We very much enjoyed visiting your
beautiful country. I especially want to praise our guide, cook and
porters. They did a terrific job. The food was marvelous and after a
long hike it was definitely something to look forward to. The
porters were very kind and when I needed some assistance at the end
of the 3rd day one of the porters helped me a lot. Our guide was
great. He was very knowledgeable and fun to hike with and he seemed
to really love his job. Again, thanks so much for everything
