We go from Salta, crossing the whole circuits of Humahuaca's Gully, after the lunch at this locality, we continue our way up to the sinuous slope that will take us to a dreaming place, the people(village) located in the mountains, the captivate of colouring mountainous countries, with a tradition of thousand-year-old, to being perceived by all the senses, inhaling its peace, where there becomes impossible the catholic thing of the pagan thing, the earthly thing of the cosmic thing, to hear the ripple of the river conversing with the wind... Iruya the Mysticism. Accommodation.

Day 5 MAIMARA / S. A. DE LOS COBRES / IRUYA
Breakfast. Continue our tour, we come towards the puna, where San Antonio of the Coppers gets up, with its church, its flaming school and inn, and the workrooms of the mines, gas pipelines and some another industry of the zone.
In San Antonio the Truck stop to the Clouds and the land excursions. The craftsmen sell his regional products. The fabric is the principal source of work of the women in the zone. It is an ancient custom that is transmitted from generation to generation. Here there is woven the legendary barracán, a thick(bulky) fabric done with wool of flame or sheep that is characterized by the stunning of natural colours in which they give priority to the target, the black and the quoits.
Going out of San Antonio de los Cobres, instead of returning to Salta, over the same way, we take the National Route n º 40 towards the north and after one hour and a half following the former way of the troperos we will come to Salinas Grandes (salt mines) in Jujuy's province where we will visit the salar. The salt mine is a white and rough made plain of very clean salt that is divided in the middle Salta and Jujuy. The Salt mines spread to the north of San Antonio de los Cobres and to Susques's south-east. There is no any urbanization and those who are employed at the exploitation(development) of the salt must lodge at very precarious cabins, bus left, or to move every day up to Cobres o Tres Morros, the most nearby populations. In Salinas Grandes mines people of the zone will be able to see and to know its craftsmen's slope: putting a few branches inside the piletones that are formed in the salt mine, the minerals go away within of to little and crystallizing for evaporation. The result is an onlooker "little tree" that will offer him like souvenir for a price " to will ". Accommodation.

Day 6 IRUYA / SALTA

Day 7 SALTA
Breakfast. We goes towards the south, to estimate the pre-Columbian ruins important mas of the country. The first evidences of poblamiento calchaquí date back to 800 DC. In the middle of the XVIIth century a population would have reached of more than 3.000 inhabitants. In its "urban" area and more than 10.000 if we count the area of influence that it was controlling.
Its location is strategic. The citadel is in the top of the High hill of the King, to 1850m of height, and there are two fortresses on paths mountainous combs, one to the north and other one(different) on the south, from which the whole valley is controlled. On the faldeos of the hill the principal residential zone is located, with more than 100 units habitacionales distributed in a regular way. Every unit is clear of a great communal house of rectangular form, that it was surrounded possibly with gallery and that it(he,she) was serving to the general tasks of every family.
To the sides there are circular constructions that were used as warehouses(deposits), grinding on mortars excavated in the rock, or tombs. More towards the south of this set there is a five times bigger built-up zone, near to a dam constructed in stone which water was used for the irrigation of the canchones of culture (culturing) aterrazados arranged on the hillsides, which were maximizing the resources of water and fertile soil. Back to the Hotel. Accommodation.
