Exciting one and a half hour river rafting tour to Pacuare Lodge (class II−III rapids), where you will enjoy a one night stay at this Costa Rica’s premier eco−lodge.

Arrival to the Pacuare Lodge between 12:00 − 1:00 pm. After lunch, you can take an optional canopy tour (not included in package price), the waterfall hike or simply relax in your private bungalow. Dine on gourmet delicacies by candlelight and then visit the upstairs lounge for a cocktail or refreshment before leaving to a restful night’s sleep.

Overnight at Pacuare Lodge, River View Room.

The Pacuare Lodge: In the Caribbean region of Costa Rica, there is a protected zone of incomparable beauty that begins near the town of Siquirres and covers approximately 25,000 acres as it descends down the Talamanca Mountain Range.

Deep inside this protected zone, perched on the banks of its enchanting Pacuare River, lies the singular Pacuare Lodge. You can arrive to the lodge either by river or by land, or a combination of the two. Arrival by river takes you along scenic class III rapids, and departure by river allows you to experience the magnificence of this zone's canyons and primary rainforest, via class III and IV rapids. You may also plan your arrival by ground transportation through impressive scenery and cross the river on a hanging gondola. A departure by ground transportation is also available, providing an alternative for families and others guests who prefer dry land, or would like to avoid the more challenging rapids.

The lodge offers 19 bungalows of different categories. All bungalows were built with special attention to the hillside's topography and are equipped with solar heated shower, private terrace and hardwood flooring; some of these bungalows have a private deck with a pool. In addition, the main building features a restaurant, an open kitchen and a cozy lounge bar. Many optional activities and tours such as the Canopy Adventure Tour, a visit to the Cabecar indian comunity, a day–break walk or a massage treatments are also available. The Pacuare Lodge's philosophy is a simplistic luxury and oneness with nature. One important thing to know... there is no electricity in the lodge. All packages include transportation, river rafting, bilingual guides, gourmet meals and lodging.

Day 03: Sarapiquí back to top

Breakfast at the lodge. Departure from the lodge between 9:00 and 10:00 am, by raft for an even more fun−filled day of white water rating excitement (approximately 31½ hours over class III−IV rapids), including a delicious picnic lunch along the river. At the river take−out, you will have a chance to change clothes before driving to Sarapiqui area.

Pick up of your rented 4x4 Daihatsu Bego.

Sarapiqui stands out for its primary forests, swamps, and plantations, in a biologically rich territory. With temperatures between 26°C and 28°C, this hot, humid land can be explored by way of the dense network of trails within the protected areas, important for the conservation of birds, butterflies, felines, insects and plants.

Check in at your hotel and then visit the thermal waters of Tabacón where you will be able to benefit from their curing effects.

Includes entrance fee and diner.

Night at Arenal Springs, Standard Room.

Arenal Springs: It is located on the way to Arenal Volcano National Park, in a very quiet property, half a mile from the main road. The hotel has 87 Junior Suites including 12 especially designed for disabled guests, with view to the active side of the Arenal Volcano. Each room is surrounded with exotic gardens, beautiful flowers and many species of birds. All of them are equipped with air conditioning, ceiling fan, cable TV, telephone, mini refrigerator, coffee maker, safe deposit box and hair dryer. Three kilometers of safe trails, where you will be able to admire the great diversity of flora typically of the rainforest and watch a great amount of birds as this project is located within the corridor followed by birds migrating between North and South America. You will be able to walk right into the forest, thanks to the imposing hanging bridges and the beautiful trails that are safe and easy to walk on.

In the afternoon, drive to Rincon de la Vieja Volcano area to Hacienda Guachipelin. Located at the foot of the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano, near the town of Curubande, in the Province of Guanacaste. The Hacienda borders the popular Rincón de la Vieja National Park.

Since 1985, Hacienda Guachipelin has also been hosting a steady flow of visitors, helping them enjoy the natural beauty of the ranch and the neighboring national park. Natural hot springs, virgin forests, jungle waterfalls and volcanic mud pots are just some of the many attractions tourists can enjoy staying at the Hacienda Guachipelin.

Night at Hacienda Guachipelin, Sup Room. Dinner included.
