DAY 1: ARRIVAL ARICA
Reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Later in the
afternoon, the visitor will join a City Tour including Iglesia
de San Marcos (San Marcos Church) and the old Customs building
both built by the French architect Eiffel. Later, sightseeing
the city center will show tourist its daily activities.
Afterwards, an ascent to El Morro is scheduled; this place
played an important role during the War of the Pacific. Finally,
a visit to Azapa Valley. Return to the hotel in Arica by the
evening.
DAY 2: ARICA – PUTRE
Departure from Arica. When crossing Lluta valley, ancestral
images depicting llamas and human shapes can be seen on the
hillsides. Visits to Poconchile’s church and cemetery, Pukara of
Copaquilla (Pre-Columbian fortress) and the amazing Candelabro
(Candelabrum) cactus, a giant species. Arrival in Socoroma where
you will taste the typical dish guaita. Later on, continue your
trip to the Aymara community Putre. Check in and have dinner at
Putre’s hotel. (B, L, D)
DAY 3: PUTRE – LAUCA NATIONAL PARK
Leave the hotel on your way to admire Lauca National Park which
is simply heaven on earth for an enormous variety of birds. At
this park, you will have the chance to watch part of the typical
fauna involving flamingoes, llamas and vizcachas. The highest
lake in the world is also located here: Chungará Lake, center of
Biosphere Reserve. As part of the tour, visits to the 6,000 m
volcanoes Pomerape and Parinacota whose magical reflection can
be appreciated on the lake is also considered. Visiting Chucuyo,
an authentic Aymara settlement whose main activity is llamas and
alpacas breeding is also included. Return to hotel. (B, L)
DAY 4: ARICA
